Weidian Spreadsheet: The Shops Behind Most Finds, and Why AliExpress Doesn't Have Them

Why aren't Weidian shops on AliExpress?

It's a common assumption that anything made in China is on AliExpress somewhere. For Weidian shops, that's rarely true, for three reasons:

1. Different company. AliExpress is Alibaba's. Weidian was founded by Koudai and funded by a Tencent-led round; it sits in Tencent's orbit and integrates with WeChat. There's no pipeline from one to the other.
2. Different sellers. Weidian is a tool for individuals and tiny brands to open a store in minutes. Many never set up the export side — English listings, international shipping, AliExpress's seller requirements.
3. Different customers. Weidian shops sell through social media to buyers in China. Their prices, sizes and photos are built for that audience.

The result is that a spreadsheet full of Weidian links is, by design, a list of things AliExpress doesn't sell. You can find similar styles on AliExpress — sometimes from the same factory — but not the same shop or listing.

Verdict: A Weidian find means an agent. A similar item on AliExpress means a different seller, so compare photos carefully.

Reading a Weidian link

Weidian links come in a few forms. Only one can be bought from directly:

The link converter pulls the itemID out of any agent format and rebuilds the standard Weidian address. That standard link is the thing to keep in your own sheet: agents come and go, Weidian item IDs don't change.

Which agents charge extra for Weidian?

Because Weidian is outside Alibaba, some agents treat it differently. Superbuy, for example, charges nothing on Taobao and 1688 but 10% on Weidian, with a ¥10 minimum and a ¥20 cap per item. Others charge the same on every platform, or nothing at all. On a Weidian-heavy spreadsheet that difference adds up, so check each agent's rule before choosing:

A Weidian find or a similar AliExpress listing?

If you've found a style on Weidian and a similar one on AliExpress, here's how the two routes compare:

Sizing deserves its own warning. Weidian sellers list Chinese sizes, which usually run one to two sizes smaller than EU and US labels. Ask for a measurement in centimetres and compare with a garment you own; the size converter helps with shoes and 170/88A-style labels.

Buying safely from small Weidian shops

Weidian shops are small and often run through WeChat, which makes them easy to reach and hard to verify. A few habits keep you safe. Buy through an agent's checkout rather than paying a seller directly, so the purchase is on record and QC happens before shipping. Be wary of shops that ask you to move to a chat app to 'confirm' an order with a bank transfer. And check the listing's photos against the QC photos when they arrive; a small shop's stock can change between listing and sale.

A useful extra check is the shop's age and sales count, which most agents show when you paste a link. A shop with years of history and thousands of sales is a different proposition from one opened last month.

None of this is unique to Weidian — the same applies to any small seller — but because spreadsheets send so much traffic to Weidian shops, it's where the habits matter most.
